Grum & Pip
AI-generated animation concept · Created by CINEGEN
A gentle stone golem who has stood in the same forest for a thousand years, and the tiny mouse knight who became his only friend. Grum & Pip is an original CINEGEN concept, taken from first idea to finished shot with human direction and generative AI.
From idea to screen
How the shot was made
- 01
The idea
It starts with a story, not a prompt: the biggest and the smallest creature in the wood, and a friendship neither expected. Every visual choice that follows serves that one feeling.
- 02
Character design
Turnarounds, expressions and scale studies fix how Grum and Pip look from every angle, so both characters stay the same in every shot.

- 03
The key frame
One composed frame sets the lens, the light and the mood before anything moves: warm forest light, Pip small in Grum’s open hand.

- 04
Motion
The frame becomes an eight-second shot. The first take came back almost still, so it was directed again until the performance felt alive. That judgement is the human part of the work.
- 05
Finish
The approved shot is reframed for cinema and phone screens and cut into the CINEGEN showreel and the reel on the home page.
